FUNDRAISING GOAL: $15,000
Beloved teacher Adam Hyatt nurtured and motivated students at Franklin County High School for eleven years. He challenged them to think and write; he celebrated their achievements; he attended their concerts and plays; and he followed their teams to the field and court to cheer at their games.
Adam Hyatt was 38 years old in 2019 when he was killed in a car crash. Stunned by the loss, his family and community grieved and reflected on his legacy. Creating an outdoor classroom is one way to permanently honor his legacy at Franklin County High School.
By creating a beautifully landscaped outdoor learning space at the school, we can ensure that, even in memoriam, Adam Hyatt continues to enhance the well-being of students.

The Adam Hyatt Outdoor Classroom will be situated at the west side of the school (in the former bus turn-around). It will feature native plants and trees, including a colonnade of tulip poplars along the sidewalk. The award-winning local landscape company Inside-Out Design donated this design.

The Adam Hyatt Outdoor Classroom will give students and teachers access to fresh air, which we all need in a pandemic era. In addition, research shows that outdoor classrooms can improve school performance, increase health, help students develop both a sense of place and civic attitudes, and make learning fun.
Please be part of this transformational project for FCHS! This is our chance to pass along the kindness Mr. Hyatt showed us. Thank you for your support!
