The Master Plan is Here!

Kelley’s Landing, nestled in the towering limestone cliffs of the Kentucky River palisades, is Lexington’s first and only public access to the Kentucky River. The 30-acre site includes meandering walking trails, significant green space, frontage to the Kentucky River, and access for paddle sports like kayaking and canoeing on the river.

Our Story

Kelley’s Landing, a Lexington Park’s & Recreation natural areas park, is officially open! Yet, there is so much more to do to make the most out of this beautiful green space and we need the community’s support!

In 2024, the Fund for Greater Lexington invested $175,000 in a master plan to catalyze the development of Kelley’s Landing, the City of Lexington’s first riverside park. The plan, completed by Gresham Smith, included robust community engagement, planning, and design and will be implemented using a phased approach as funding becomes available. Kelley’s Landing is possible thanks to the City of Lexington’s work to purchase the land and prepare it for an initial opening. Yet, the park will need private support to make the vision of the master plan a reality, including an intricate trail system, river overlooks, a central lawn and play area, educational infrastructure, bathrooms, and an enhanced kayak launch.

The Fund for Greater Lexington encourages you to join us in financially supporting this public-private partnership by contributing today to make this master plan come to life.
